Yes, I am ripping you off today. You came for trenchant commentary and I only have time for a few thoughts. What with work and all. Anyway, here's what I took away from last night.
- We can now officially worry about Jon Lester. He looked shot. I think that potential issue with major innings in 2008 is coming to pass. Not good for the team, but this is why you sign/develop all the quality arms you possibly can.
- The batting...ugh. This is NOT about Manny, however. The Sox have enough quality in hitting to produce runs. But for whatever reason, it simply isn't happening right now. I am less concerned about this; I think it will improve and get back on track, which will reduce the pressure on the pitching staff.
- I don't care how fast he ran off the mound, Chien-Ming Wang's Lisfranc is still a mess. How else do you explain that glorious display of ineptitude in last night's Yankee debacle? At the least, the scoreline gave me a reason to smile that was baseball-related.
- I really hate these West Coast trips. They never seem to work out for the Sox. Can't we get an extra 20 games against the Royals?
